1. Matrix Pretreatment
(1) The chimney inner surface shall be sand blasted and then dried.
(2) Any cracks in the chimney inner surface shall be filled up with Sikadur 52,
and the holes or bores also shall be filled up with Sikadur 41 and shall be
cured for a minimum of 24 hours.
2. Primer Construction (Sikaflex-T68 Primer)
(1) After the pretreatment, coat with Sikaflex-T68 Primer evenly using a brush
or roller brush.
(2) It will be better to coat from the lower part to the upper part one or two times.
(Required quantity per Square Meter is approximately 0.3 kg)
(3) As the Primer has volatility, one should keep caution from fire and one has to
have proper ventilation while working.
3. Applying Adhesive (Sikaflex-T68NS) and installation of Protex Block
on the inner surface of Chimney.
(1) Within 1~5 hours of coating of the Primer (Sikaflex-T68), the Adhesive
shall be applied on top of the Primer surface.
(2) An Sikaflex-T68NS, Adhesive will be supplied together with basic material and
hardner separately and they are mixed on the job site in a ratio of 10:1 and
mixed with a low speed electric mixer (400 rpm) for about 3 minutes.
(3) Hardening period of the Adhesive is about 70 minutes in 20กษ, therefore the
Protex Block shall be installed within 30-50 minutes after the adhesive is applied.
(4) Sikaflex-T68NS shall be applied about 3 mm thick equally using a trowel or
jagged trowel.
(Required quantity per Square meter is approximately 6.0 kg)
(5) After applying the Sikaflex - T68NS, the Protex shall be pressed into the Adhesive
until it is buried approximately 2mm deep and set to be leveled with other blocks.
(6) After insulation of the Protex Block, it shall be kept dry for a minimum of 10 hours.
4. Cautions
(1) The workers shall wear chemical resistant gloves, clothes and eye protction
glasses, etc.
(2) Do not use the chimney until 7 days after construction of the Protex Block. |
